Royal Oak Shooters win Kater 4 Cup

-

THE semi-finals and finals of the Kater 4 Knockout Cup and Shield Competitions were played last Thursday in the Loughborough & District Pubs and Clubs Darts League.

The Kater 4 Knockout Cup was held at the Three Nuns, Loughborough, and due to the withdrawal of the Boat House Tap Tappers only one semi-final had to be played with Blue Ball Division One side the Royal Oak Shooters getting a bye into the final. The semi-final comprised of two other division one sides, the Three Crowns Ghostbusters and the Bull and Bush Gatecrashers with the ‘Ghostbusters’ winning through 5-3.

The final produced some excellent darts from both sides, Ant Greasley hitting a 129 finish for the Royal Oak Shooters, and father and son duo Rich and Jake Selby hitting maximums for the Ghostbusters.

However it was the Royal Oak Shooters that finally secured the win by 5 legs to 3 to be crowned Kater 4 Knockout cup winners for the first time.

The Shield Competition finals night was played at the Generous Briton, Loughborough. The semi-final draw paired Wanty’s Division Two side Unicorn AW against last season’s winners the Three Nuns Albion from Generous Briton Division Three, and the Three Nuns Exiles against the Bull and Bush Laughing Boys both from division two. The semi-finals were both one sided affairs with the Unicorn winning 5-1 and the Exiles 5-0.

The final was also over just as quick with the division two champions elect Unicorn AW winning 5-0.

There were also two re-arranged league games played in Wanty’s Division Two last week.

The Beacon beat the Three Nuns Right Footers 5-4 and the Bell Foundry Blue Army beat Fat Sam’s 26er’s by the same score.

With only one more league game of the summer season remaining the Registration and AGM for the new Winter 2018 Season is from 8pm on Wednesday, October 3, at the Blacksmiths, Loughborough.

The Shardlow Brewery ‘Champion of Champions’ Knockout Cup will be on Thursday, October 4, where the winning teams from all five divisions will be invited to compete in the final showpiece event of the Summer 2018 season.

The Presentation Night for the Summer 2018 Season is on Friday, October 19, at Fennel Street Club and the night will include the 180 ‘9-Dart’ Throw off competition which is open to all registered league players that have recorded one or more maximums during the summer season.

A list of qualifiers eligible to compete in the event will be published following next week’s final league games.
