Orchestral return for Ellis- Bextor

- By SIMON WILSON

AFTER a crowd-pleasing set at Nottingham’s Splendour Festival over the summer, Sophie Ellis-Bextor has announced her return on a 2019 UK tour called The Song Diaries where she will be joined by a full orchestra, as well as a live band.

The tour will be preceded by an orchestrated greatest hits album due out in the autumn.

“It’s so exciting to be performing hits from my entire career with full orchestral arrangements for the first time,” said the 39-year-old.

“This is a bit of a dream come true.

“I’m especially delighted that I get to do some proper full-on live disco with strings.. it’s going to be really special.”

She plays Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall on Tuesday, June 4.

Tickets are £30 to £50 and go on general sale on Friday, September 28.

They will be available from Ticketmaster, Seetickets and the venue on 0115 989 5555 or go to trch.co.uk .

The Royal Concert Hall will have a pre-sale from 10am on Thursday, September 27. You need to sign up to the venue’s mailing list to access that.

Since the release of her debut album, Read My Lips in 2001, which sold over two million copies, Ellis-Bextor has had six Top 10 singles, including Take Me Home, Get Over You, and Murder On The Dancefloor.

For millions though, their first introduction to her was with the collaboration with Spiller for the No.1, Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love), which became the most played song on UK radio during the noughties.

Her most recent album was 2016.
