Help offered to unpaid carers

-

UNPAID carers across Charnwood are being encouraged to come forward and see what support may be available to them.

Leicestershire County Council has developed a new carers assessment form which aims to make the assessment process simpler and easier for carers to discuss their needs.

It will also improve the process for carers, who have already been assessed as eligible for a one-off carers’ personal budget, to have a review of their needs.

The authority says it wants all unpaid carers in the county to feel valued and supported.

Coun Richard Blunt, cabinet member for adult social care, said: “It’s not always easy for carers to leave the person they care for to seek support, but they now have the option to submit their assessment online at any time of the day, and get an immediate acknowledgement that we have received it.

“We have also appointed two dedicated carer support officers to provide support and guidance to carers in Leicestershire and I would urge all of our unpaid carers to complete the online assessment form and find out what support is available.”

Visit www.leicestershire.gov.uk/carersassessment for more information or to complete the online form.

Carers unable to access the form can contact the customer service centre to start their assessment over the phone by calling 0116 305 0004.
