National Citizen Service back for autumn

-

NATIONAL Citizen Service (NCS) is back for the autumn programme and is currently encouraging 15 to 17-year-olds across Charnwood to join in.

Kicking off this half term, the NCS programme begins with a week stay at an outdoor adventure centre. During the stay there will be the chance to participate in a variety of adventure activities as well as learning and developing employability skills. Working with local businesses to volunteer and fundraise in their local communities, the teens will complete a social action project to put their new found skills into practice.

The autumn NCS programme costs just £50 including all food, activities and accommodation, with financial assistance also available. As an autumn promotion, from now until October half term the experi- ence cost just £25 when booked online.

NCS is a government initiative that provides young people with the chance to take on new challenges, experience exciting activities, make long-lasting friendships, and develop vital skills that will support them later in life.

Tenille Dawson, Wave Leader for NCS, said: “With autumn half term fast approaching, I’m really looking forward to meeting the young people and being part of their NCS journey as well as watching them develop and make a difference in their local communities.”

Places on the NCS autumn experience are limited, so to avoid disappointment early booking is recommended.
