Sabatino & Sutcliffe show nets £2,500 for bus appeal
SSCB co-ordinator hails concert an amazing success
THE team at Shepshed Special Community Bus (SSCB) is celebrating after a sellout crowd enjoyed a great night’s entertainment at a fund-raising concert staged by Sabatino & Sutcliffe.
Held at the Iveshead Theatre, Forest Street, Shepshed, West End star Kieran Sutcliffe returned to his home town with Luke Sabatino, singing the songs of Michael Ball and Alfie Boe.
He said he had been overwhelmed with the response to the show.
“What a great night - we got standing ovations as well! Thanks to everyone who came and supported and bought a ticket, absolutely overwhelmed and thrilled with the response from everybody and for all your support for The Shepshed Special Community Bus.
“We will come back next year and it will be the same again maybe with one or two new songs. I have had many messages of thanks and already people asking me to contact them when the next show is organised.”
Community Bus co-ordinator Alison Sharp paid tribute to all the volunteers who helped on the night, from the people manning the bar and selling raffle tickets to local businesses Fydella5, Charnwood Fish Bar, Numark Chemist and Dilips for their raffle prizes.
“It means so much to have local support and also to the many residents who donated prizes too.
“I must also thank Coun Joan Tassell who as a member of Charnwood Borough Council granted us £500 from the Members Grant towards the show, it is great to have the support of the local council.
“The Community bus means so much to so many people who would not get out if it was not for the use of the bus and thanks to the show we raised £2,500 towards our bus appeal, which is an amazing success.”
She said it was great news that Sabatino & Sutcliffe have agreed to come back next year for another concert to boost the SSCB coffers.
“A massive thank you to Kieran and Luke who gave up time in their busy schedule to support us. They were brilliant and now they have agreed to come back again in 2019 - they are real stars. It will make a real difference.”
