Evening frights galore at The Haunted Castle...

-

FAMILIES and friends will be lured to Warwick Castle this Halloween for The Haunted Castle (October 20-November 4) where daytime family fun makes way for frightful night times and spooky selfies until 10pm on selected dates.

Three sets of attractions with increasing fear factors make it easy for visitors of all ages to find the best thrill for them this Halloween: Scaredy Squires, Daring Dukes and Brave Knights.

For Scaredy Squires - Youngsters flock to the Haunted Hollows each Halloween to scamper along the spooky woodland trail, giggling as they go, and to weave their way through the Horrible Histories maze.

Dead Centre Stage (open from 11am) offers live-action performances, stories and shows throughout the day while back at the castle, Witches Tower replaces The Princess Tower. Hear firsthand from a cast of horrid hags who tell tales of ghosts and the unexplained. Just don’t ask them what they did with the princesses…

Daring Dukes - New for 2018, the Escape Room – an actor-led attraction set within the medieval gaol – challenges friends and strangers to work together against the clock on a quest to save a tortured soul from the Wars of the Roses (additional £5 ticket required).

Venture into the castle, the centuries-old walls exuding a sense of foreboding, to find the new House of Wax scare maze. Skirting the ghostly glare of the lurking wax figures, their sallow eyes piercing the disorienting darkness, be prepared for a gutwrenchingly grim finale…fire and wax don’t mix!

Fire jousting returns, promising an awesome display of horseback heroics. Out on the battlefield on River Island, fearless knights wield their flaming lances in a skillful showdown.

Brave Knights (over 10 years only; parental discretion advised) - Outbreak 1369 drags pitiful plague victims from their medieval resting place in the fetid bowels of the castle to torment the living. Stomach churns and teeth chatters - punctuated with screams of terror – are to be expected.

Try to keep calm in The Castle Dungeon, a live-actor experience that plunges victims into the deathly darkness of the Middle Ages, when the people of Warwick were at the mercy of the plague, malevolent monks and unscrupulous ‘surgeons’.

Maximum fear factor belongs to Séance a spectacle exclusive to Warwick Castle that uses innovative binaural spatial audio technology to share spirits’ stories of life on ‘the other side’: prepare to be petrified!

“This Halloween we’re bringing alive the castle to thrill and spinechill,” said Melissa Paniccia, Head of History at Warwick Castle. “With fearsomely fun attractions for all ages ranging from pumpkins to plague-ridden peasants, Halloween is one of the most evocative times for the castle that bristles with the energy of those who’ve lived - and died - here over the centuries.”

With the Mighty Trebuchet firing twice daily, birds of prey circling overhead and castle characters sharing spooky stories around every corner, The Haunted Castle the real deal this Halloween, for all the family.

The Haunted Castle costs from £20 per person for daytime entrance and from £18 per person for evening entrance from 5pm to 10pm. The Castle Dungeon costs an additional £9 per person and Séance costs £5 per person.

Treat the family to a spooky sleepover in the medievalthemed Knight’s Village in the castle grounds. Halloween stays in lodges set in a riverside woodland start from only £90 per person per night including breakfast, car parking and two full days to enjoy The Haunted Castle.
