Bottom Railway BA’s defending champion Andy Hibbert retains singles title

-

BOTTOM Railway BA’s Andy Hibbert retained his title in the LDPCDL Division One & Two Singles Competition last Thursday.

Held at the Arena Pool & Snooker Club, 23 players from the top two divisions registered for the competition which was played to a winner on the night using the club’s five competition boards.

In an excellent night of top quality darts Andy won through the top half of the draw beating Mark Wagg, Duane Freer, and Jake Selby in the early rounds and Spot On MP’s Steve Hopkins in the semi-final.

In the bottom half of the draw Andy Kent beat Paul Fitzsimmons, and two times champion Mitch Gregory in the semi-final on his way to the final.

The final proved to be a bit one sided as defending champion Andy Hibbert cheered on by a partisan crowd won through 4-1 to lift the trophy for a second consecutive year and a third time in total having won it also in winter 2016.

Due to a limited response the Division Three to Five Singles Competition was run on a round robin basis and after some excellent games Loz Hopkins beat Michael Walker in the final to become the first lady to win a major LDPCDL individual trophy.
