Tales of life as a country vicar

-

NANPANTAN WI met on a mild evening for our October meeting, the trees were telling us that autumn had arrived but it still felt like late summer.

We had a wonderful and amusing speaker from Nottingham the Rev. Canon Alan Haydock. He amazingly spoke for about an hour, with no notes, telling us all about his experiences and some confessions whilst he was a country vicar.

Our spirits were lifted and much laughter pursued as he told us little stories and antidotes about, what must have been, a full and interesting life. After his talk he stayed and took refreshments and continued to talk to members before leaving us to conduct the business side of our meeting.

Members brought in items for the Christmas tree, (apologies for mentioning Christmas so early), we are preparing to take to All Saints Parish church at the end of November. Also a reminder went out for cakes and crafts for the forthcoming charity stall on Loughborough market. We heard news from a prior member and also news from members who had attended an Outdoor Pursuits day in Leicester.

Our next meeting on Thursday, November 8, which will be our AGM. At the beginning of the meeting we will have a speaker on the subject of armed policing. We also have craft, café, and lunch clubs . Our monthly meetings cover a variety of topics.

New members are always welcome. We meet at Ronald West Court Lounge, Langdale Avenue, LE11 3RE at 7.15pm for 7.30pm. Just pop along ! We look forward to seeing you.
