Warriors fall short against Bluetits

DIVISION ONE CHARNWOOD RUTLAND WARRIORS 46 BLUETITS 55 CHARNWOOD Rutland Warriors suffered defeat to Bluetits on Sunday as they went down 55-46 to an experience­d Bluetits side.

Despite the Warriors’ best efforts they were unable to follow up their win last week as Bluetits proved too strong for the young side.

The first quarter began evenly with the sides going goal for goal, however at the end of the fisrt quarter Bluetits enjoyed a run of five unanswered goals to go into quarter time 17-10 ahead.

In the second quarter the momentum was with Bluetits as with accurate shooting and strong defensive pressure they continued to stretch their lead. Warriors however kept fighting as they worked hard for every goal to go into half time 35-23 behind.

After half-time changes the Warriors came out and continued to work hard to try and close the gap. Their defence stepped up the pressure on Bluetits’ shooters, however the Warriors we unable to convert their turnovers and with 15 minutes left to go Bluetits led 49-36.

In the last quarter the Warriors came out firing as they were determined to finish the match on a high, with vocal support from the bench they began to claw back the deficit. Winning the quarter 10-6 Warriors closed the gap however Bluetits held on to secure a 55-46 win.
