Hot shot striker signs new contract
QUORN striker Steve Hart was on the scoresheet again on Sunday as Quorn booked themselves a place in the second round of the FA Vase against Eastwood with a 4-1 away win over Belper United.
The 28-year-old has been in blistering form this season with 22 goals to his name so far and has attracted interest from other clubs wishing to take him from the Farley Way stadium.
Manager Carl Abbott signed him when he was Hinckley boss and he scored 50 goals for them last season but agreed to move to Quorn in the close season, after a brief spell at Walsall Wood, to link up again with Abbott.
Previous clubs include Loughborough Dynamo, Stapenhill, Heanor Town and Bardon Hill Sports.
His impressive goal scoring exploits this campaign give him a great chance of emulating the records of previous Quorn strikers - Craig Noble scored 38 goals in 2002/03, Dominic Brennan scored 36 goals in the 2013/14 season, while famous Quorn oldboy Luke Varney scored 40 goals in 52 games over two seasons.
A club spokesman said: “We have been inundated with seven day notices for the player from teams from two levels higher all wanting
him to sign for them.
“But we have secured his services for the rest of this season. He signed a contract on Monday morning and we have lodged it with the FA. We are delighted to retain him for the rest of the season at least and hope he continues his fine form.”
