LOUGHBOROUGH TOWN LADIES 3RD XI 2

ASHBY LADIES 3RD XI 2 LOUGHBOROUGH started strongly with wave after wave of attack, but Ashby’s defence was solid and managed to block Town at every turn.

Half way through the first half Town made an attack with Eleanor Grainge joining up with Grace Jones to drive down the left hand side. A driving ball into the D found Sam Dalby whose shot was saved but she gathered the rebound to make it 1-0.

The lead however was short lived as Ashby made a strong play down the pitch to go toe to toe with keeper Phoebe Redding, and even up the game to 1-1.

The second half started with Ashby coming out strong. Whilst Town dominated the first half, Ashby certainly decided to change that in the second. Their sustained pressure resulted in another chance to score, which they capitalised on making it 2-1 to Ashby.

Town however were not to be downhearted and picked themselves up to rally another attack. Again strong midfield play found Sam Dalby in the D who in a falling dive managed to poke the ball enough for it to trickle over the line to draw the game level.

Ashby seemed stunned by this and did not rally as well as Town who again made a surge of play, in an effort to get the win.

Picking the ball up in midfield Dalby started her run. Spotting Maddie Herring to the left, she set Maddie off to go head to head with the Ashby keeper - Maddie beat the keeper but was denied by the post and again Ashby cleared their lines. Ten seconds later the full time whistle blew!

The game ended with a 2-2 draw which reflected the game well.
