Entertainers have set sail for Mrs Crusoe’s Island

-

THE Quorn Phoenix Entertainers recently performed their panto Mrs Crusoe’s Island; an adaption of the Robinson Crusoe Story at Quorn Village Hall.

Mrs Crusoe (Sharon Lodge) inherits the Island of Ellawi so she sets about getting a ship and crew to take them to the island. Mrs Crusoe and her friends have to crew the ship under the guidance of Captain Eyepatch (John Spencer) and Bosun Smee (Elliot Winning).

However, their good fortune soon becomes the knowledge of Captain Bella (Sue Booles), the Captain of a pirate ship and follows them to their destination. Mrs Crusoe’s ship becomes shipwrecked and they all swim to safety, but the crew of the pirate ship follow them.

Luckily they find themselves on the Island of Ellawi. They discover Robinson Crusoe (Karl Allen) and Mrs Friday (Pauline Parker) on the island but after much farcical fun they all live happy ever after. There were several songs for audience participation and you can’t have a panto without lots of ‘He’s behind you’.

This was an excellent performance by all and excellent costumes. It would be a diffi- cult decision if Ian Stringer had asked me for my ‘man or women of the match’ for all performed well and there was a good, moving storyline. I had good front seats so didn’t have a problem hearing, but one or two further back or with hearing aids said the sound system wasn’t very effective.

Nonetheless I’m sure we all look forward to their performance next year which is likely to be a musical extravaganza. Money raised from the raffles at each performance went to The Marchant Trust and The Alzheimer’s Society.
