Dynamo carve out narrow home victory
EVOSTIK LEAGUE DIVISION ONE EAST LOUGHBOROUGH
DYNAMO 1 CLEETHORPES TOWN 0 LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo made three changes to the side that lost 2-1 to Belper last time out. Kyle Bryant, Danny Gordon and Liam Read came in for Jared Holmes, Karl Demidh and Carl Sibson.
The Lincolnshire side had a couple of chances to open the scoring. First Danny North’s effort from outside the box was comfortably saved by Charlie Taylor and then Josh Batty’s free kick from the edge of the box was palmed away from danger by goalkeeper Taylor.
At the other end Dynamo were also limited to few opportunities in a the first half. The best of them came off to a Danny Gordon effort which was saved by Parkin. Ryan Robbins also tried his luck but his shot flashed across the face of goal and the sides were level at 0-0 at half time.
But five minutes after the break, Loughborough took the lead. Robbins’ saw Parkin off his line and clipped the ball over the Owls’ goalkeeper Dylan Parkin from the best part of 30 yards out for his eighth goal of the season.
The game flowed from end to end as Cleethorpes aimed to grab a equaliser and Loughborough tried to double their lead. But both defences were standing firm and not letting their opposition have much of a chance.
The task became harder for Cleethorpes13 minutes from time, when they were reduced to 10 men when Mark Gray was given his marching orders after a lunge on Dynamo substitute Corbi Brown.
With the game coming to its closing stages Dynamo had a chance to extend their slender lead, when a Brown shot was saved by Parkin and Cleethorpes threatened late on but Dynamo held on at the ADT Stadium to claim all three points.
Next up Loughborough travel to Yorkshire to face Frickley Athletic on Saturday (December 8).
