Foundation launches a new series of music competitions

-

LOUGHBOROUGH Schools Foundation is hosting a new series of music competitions for aspiring young musicians in the Midlands who wish to demonstrate their skills in front of a music specialist.

Following the success of the Loughborough Piano Competition in May 2017, the initiative is part of the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to support music-making beyond its campus.

The initiative will bring together musicians in the region from three age groups, under 19, under 15 and under 11, to perform in one of six competitions: percussion, woodwind, singing, brass, strings and piano.

Each musician will get the chance to perform and receive valuable feedback from a leading independent adjudicator for each category. The adjudicator will award the pupil with the greatest mastery of their instru- ment as a winner for each category.

Richard West, director of music at Loughborough Schools Foundation, said: “We have always been keen to make music, in all forms, a major part of our pupils’ lives and we are passionate about ensuring that we encourage this in the wider community as much as possible.”
