Museum close to £50,000 target and December donations will help

-

THE Mountsorrel and Rothley Community Heritage Centre Heritage Centre is close to reaching its £50,000 museum extension target.

Since the Mountsorrel and Rothley Community Heritage Centre launched its railway museum extension appeal at the end of October, the response from the public has been phenomenal.

Aided by a generous supporter who has kindly offered to match all donations made, over £42,000 of the £50,000 target has so far been raised.

Heritage Centre managing director, Steve Cramp, said: “We are very fortunate to have a donor who has promised to match fund all donations that are received up until 5pm on December 23rd.

“It has been wonderful to see how the community has come together to raise money to help improve the Heritage Centre Site.”

The railway museum at the heritage centre site focuses on the railway history of Leicestershire, but display space is limited with the current facilities and restoration activities negatively impact the exhibits on display.

The £50,000 project to extend the museum is designed to address all of these problems.

“We are so close to our target,” enthused Steve.

“Until December 23rd, every pound donated is worth two pounds towards the project and with gift aid that becomes £2.50.

“We have relied on the public for many other projects and they have proven their support once again.

“There is still time for us to take advantage of match funding donor doubling up donations, but only up until 23rd of December.”

Go to the heritage centre website for further details of how to donate.
