Charnwood Arts returns ‘home’ to Fearon Hall
Concert organised to mark the move from Granby Street
CHARNWOOD Arts has moved back to its ‘ancestral home’ of Fearon Hall after 18 years of residency opposite Queen’s Park in Granby Street, Loughborough.
Founded in 1976, the organisation is one of the longest-serving community led arts and media charities in the East Midlands and is a National Portfolio organisation of Arts Council England.
Gabriella Maffioli, the current chair of Charnwood Arts, said: “This an exciting move for us to return to a Fearon Hall community that has really blossomed in the last few years - it’s a venue that is really going places.
“We are still actively pursuing a new home for Charnwood Arts with The Generator in the former art college building on Granby Street but delighted to be able to contribute to Fearon Hall at this stage of our work and theirs in the town.”
To mark the move to Fearon Hall, Charnwood Arts is organising a special concert on Saturday, February 23, which will feature award-winning band PsychicBread, led by the poet and anarchically evocative storyteller Mark Gwynne Jones.
The evening also features two young local singer-songwriters - George Stackhouse from Shepshed and Loughborough-based Tara Freeman whose new EP - Creepy Crawley is released on February 17.
There is a licensed bar and food available. Tickets are free and limited to four per person with donations welcomed to support the costs of staging the event. Selected publications by Charnwood Arts will also be available on the night.
Doors open at 7.30pm. Fearon Hall and Charnwood Arts regret that at the moment access is not available for wheelchair users at the concert space in this venue. Please note that car parking is extremely limited at Fearon Hall and street parking is limited to residents only.
Tickets are available online through www.eventbrite.co.uk - search for ‘Full Circle with Charnwood Arts’.
