The Bodega, Nottingham ALLUSINLOVE, previously known as Allusondrugs, are heading to The Bodega in Nottingham this month. Guitarist, Drey (Andrej Pavlovic) talks about the band’s inspiration, being on the road and all that...

Can you give some background about your latest release?

We just dropped a digital four-track EP on all our streaming platforms through Starglobe Records/ Good Soldier. There will also be a vinyl release coming out anytime now. This EP was part of 16 songs we recorded with Catherine Marks, Adam Bartlett, Ritchie Kennedy and Alan Moulder down in London in the summer of 2018. This is our official first extended release since rebranding as Allusinlove – the first taster if you will... we have plenty more new music on the way.

How would you describe your sound?

It’s a blend of guitar-heavy psychedelic rock and pop which is driven with often intense offbeat pacing rhythms and layered with a soulful and unique vocal delivery. Our songs are designed to take your state of mind on an exciting and hopeful journey within a momentary moment of your life.

What inspires your music?

Life. Love. All our senses. The finer moments in all the the great music we grew up listening to. We understand that an artist’s music can often take on the role of being created as a pure carbon copy of an already existing idea by another artist. We try to avoid this method of creation and instead of writing works that are directly inspired and driven to end result by a specific previous piece, we instead try to soak up small moments in songs and make entirely new vibrations from it. Sometimes world events can inspire our music.. or even serial killers.

What are you enjoying listening to at the moment?

I’m listening to a lot of The 1975, Aphex Twin, RJD2, Butthole Surfers, Ghost and Mastodon.

What do you like most about touring?

Almost everything. The fact that we’re able to live and work on the road is a blessing in itself. Playing shows and the magic moments that happen at those shows make it all worthwhile. Travelling with your best friends, seeing new places and making memories is always set to be amazing. Another great thing about touring is that you sink into the routine of it, and once it gets going you literally live for it as it’s just so good. Festival season is always a highlight!

What can people expect from your upcoming Nottingham gig?

Good energy, love and great vibes. Also great songs! We’re going to play our hearts out for you – come and get involved!
