Warriors dig deep to clinch away victory

NATIONAL PREMIER LEAGUE HERTFORD HORNETS 38 CHARNWOOD WARRIORS 40 THE WARRIORS took to the court against Hertford Hornets in the National Premier League on Sunday and came out victorious with a narrow 40-38 victory.

In the first quarter, Warriors got off to a wobbly start underestim­ating their opponents but, showing more composure, managed to fight back equalling the score to 11-11.

During the second quarter , both attacking ends were working tirelessly to score off their centre passes with the defence making it difficult for both teams. As a result, the score remained level at 21-21 at half time.

In the third quarter, Warriors started to breakaway gaining a gap of three goals by playing some outstandin­g defence turning over ball. However, Hornets did not give up, playing some great netball throughout the court, continuing to challenge for ball constantly, with the score being 32-29 to Warriors heading into the final 15 minutes.

In the final quarter both teams fought extremely hard. However, Warriors were able to keep a small lead throughout, upping their game and delivering great play from both ends of the court.

Both teams were battling it out neck and neck up till the final whistle, but Warriors showed composure and determinat­ion to take the win, 40-38.
