GREEN fingered residents of Shepshed will be again opening their gardens this weekend to raise money for Shepshed Volunteer Centre and Shepshed Special Community Bus.

The gardens taking part will be open to the public on Saturday (July 6) and Sunday (July 7) from 12pm-6pm each day, with tickets and programmes now available from Dilips, Meet n Eat, the Volunteer Centre and Town Council Offices. They cost £3 per adult, with accompanied children free.

One of the event organisers Alison Sharp said: “Our gardens range from the child-friendly to the walled garden, to others that are simply beautiful, some are wheelchair accessible, all hoping to welcome you.

“One or two gardens you may have already seen have made changes worth looking at. There are gardens with chickens and birds, amazing ponds, wishing well, streams running through.

“There is an Alice in wonderland themed garden, the garden gauge railway and so much more to see.

“As usual our brilliant bakers will be cooking up a feast to offer fantastic cakes at a few of our venues, a BBQ and plenty of refreshments - if you’re not a gardener it’s worth a visit for that alone.”

The well-being garden at Shepshed Volunteer Centre will be open and on Sunday at 2pm there will be a performance by the Shepshed Ukulele Band. The Shepshed Special Community Bus at the Shepshed Town Council will be open for cakes and refreshments and there will also be craft items for sale and a tombola.
