VISITORS to Beacon Hill Country Park will be able to enjoy a range of hot drinks and snacks when the new café officially opens its doors on Monday, July 29.

The first in a new venture for the popular park, the Leicestershire County Council run café is aiming to become a plastic-free zero waste hub for community events and recreational activities like cycling and hiking.

Work started on the new cafe in February 2019 and Leicestershirebased building firm Tanwood Construction have worked tirelessly over the past five months to design and build a café that compliments the park’s natural surroundings and picturesque landscape.

Set at the lower end of the park, the café is fitted with an outdoor seating area and bike racks and is the perfect resting spot for a day out in the beautiful rolling hills of the countryside.

Coun Byron Rhodes, deputy leader of Leicestershire County Council, said: “Beacon Hill is one of our most popular parks and opening a café facility was a natural movement for growth and demand.

“It is vital for us to be seen to be listening to our communities and supporting them. Opening something new gives us the opportunity to do something differently and I am so pleased that we are helping to change the way people think by being eco-conscious.

“Our catering service is something we’re extremely proud of as a council and I’d encourage regular and first-time visitors to take advantage of this wonderful new facility in the park.”

The new café will serve a range of luxury hot drinks, light bites, hot food and snacks as well as Marshfield Farm’s popular puppy favourite, Scoop’s Ice Cream.
