A FILM showcasing Charnwood’s commercial potential to investors from around the region, nation and the world has been premiered.

InCharnwood, the borough council’s regeneration brand, commissioned the film as part of its strategy to attract more inward investment into the area.

Be at the Centre of Innovation promotes the borough’s many commercial strengths for new and expanding businesses, while capturing the superb landscape that Charnwood lies within.

It also includes interviews with key business leaders who highlight Charnwood’s central location and connectivity to the rest of the country; it’s high-quality workforce and its reputation for innovation and technology.

Coun Jonathan Morgan, leader of Charnwood Borough Council, said: “Charnwood has a fantastic offer to the business world but someone has to bang that drum and let them know we are here and what we are about. This film is a great way to do that and we will be pushing it across all channels to businesses around the region, country and the world.

“Charnwood is at the heart of the UK, with outstanding links by road, rail and air and has a great mix of small businesses and major global brands.

“When you add in a skilled workforce, a university with a worldwide reputation and an outstanding quality of life then it is easy to see why our borough has a bright future.

“We must continue to work hard and share the message that Charnwood is a great place to do business and to invest in.

“When investors are looking to move or expand we need to be able to succinctly sum up everything that the borough has offer and this film does that in just a few minutes.”

Coun Eric Vardy, lead member for inward investment, said: “Charnwood is the land of opportunity for new and existing business and this film showcases everything we have to offer. I am pleased that, as a council, we are able to showcase the borough to investors in all corners of the globe.”

Be at the Centre of Innovation was premiered at Holywell Park Conference centre, Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park on July 10. It has been produced by a Loughborough-based company Affixxius Films.

The eight-minute film features interviews with business leaders in the borough including Steve Evans, Regional Business Leader at 3M Healthcare, Professor Robert Allison, Vice-Chancellor of Loughborough University; and Martin Traynor, Vice President of Loughborough Chamber of Trade and Commerce. It also features success stories from local business such as Gill Cooke Personnel which provides workers for the commercial and industrial sector, including many high-tech businesses and Miles Latham, managing partner at Affixxius Films.
