Iveshead cash for The Bridge
STUDENTS at Iveshead Secondary School in Shepshed have raised an impressive £511.28 for local charity The Bridge (East Midlands), following a non-school-uniform day.
Over 800 children took part in the school-wide event, each making a small donation for the charity, which works to prevent and relieve homelessness in the local area.
Based in Loughborough, The Bridge offers a range of free and impartial housing-related advice, support and assistance services to vulnerable people across Leicestershire and Rutland.
It adds to Iveshead School’s substantial record of charitable giving. The school has done many fundraising events in the past, including cake sales, non-uniform days and sponsored silences.
The school’s Safeguarding Manager Jo Barstow said: “We chose to support The Bridge (East Midlands) in this fundraising effort because they have helped many of our students and families over the past few years.”
Proud of his students’ fund-raising efforts, Mr Matthew Parrott, the Principal of Iveshead School, added: “I am very grateful for all the help and support The Bridge has provided to the students and families of Shepshed.”
The donation will help The Bridge to continue to provide its vital services to local people, many of which benefit the students and families of Iveshead School.
Molly Boggis, Head of Housing Services at The Bridge, said: “Iveshead School have shown that non-uniform days are a great way of raising money for a good cause.
“We have built a strong working relationship with Iveshead School over the past seven years and would like to say a huge thank you to all of the children, parents and staff for their valuable contribution towards tackling homelessness.”
