The gathering was attended by Nicky Morgan MP and Coun Jenny Bokor whose invaluable and enthusiastic help in supporting the museum in its recent ventures was acknowledged.

The guests were welcomed by society president, Professor Martyn Bennett who informed the audience that the LAHS was a growing and developing organisation staging innovative exhibitions, lectures and walks.

As well as recognising the great contribution of guest Brian Williams to the saving of the site from demolition 60 years ago, Prof Bennett also referred to the hugely successful Ian Keil Lecture given by Prof Ronald Hutton in April.

He also announced that next year’s event will feature Professor Kate Williams, well known for her mini discussions following the episodes of the successful television series Versailles.

The society’s next events are; July 25, a walking tour and lecture on Loughborough’s lost theatres and on the following weekend a solo exhibition of art by Penney Sandel will be on display in the Pantry Gallery at the Old Rectory.
