Humans, nature and clay are the subjects
‘A MOUNTAIN is A Mountain’ is a three-part project about humans, nature and clay taking place in Loughborough.
This summer Modern Painters, New Decorators has run clay workshops, toured artworks and a sculpture park and will now host an exhibition in their gallery. The project is by Modern Painters, New Decorators and commissioned by Collective Matter.
A spokesperson said: “Be a part of the creative community and celebrate the opening of Modern Painters, New Decorators’ exhibition within Carillon Court, Loughborough. The evening will kick off at 7pm on August 16 with drinks and DJs. ‘A Mountain is a Mountain’ will feature new work by George Chinnery, David John Scarborough, Tom Sewell and Rebecca Wymant as well as work produced in collaboration with the local community.
“The artists will exhibit ceramics, prints, sculpture, installations and photography, bringing together a range of ideas about the natural world. The title of the show takes inspiration from the Buddhist journey to enlightenment in which man attempts to understand reality, only to come to peace with the natural order of things.
“As we continue to superimpose our own ideas on to the natural world, nature continues on at it’s own pace.”
Earlier this summer Modern Painters, New Decorators hosted a series of community clay days with local creatives, young people from charity Twenty-Twenty and members of the Loughborough community.
The clay artworks created have been exhibited at the sculpture park Contemporary Sculpture Fulmer, and will now tour back to Loughborough for this very special exhibition.
The exhibition will be open from August 17 until September 21, open Thursday to Saturday, 11am-5pm.
