Action galore as Convoy in the Park returns to Donington Park this weekend

-

CONVOY in the Park returns to Donington Park for a third year this weekend (August 10-11), for the UK’s biggest celebration of all things trucking. It’s the circuit’s biggest family event of the year, with children under 13 going free all weekend.

Over 1,000 trucks are set to take over the legendary East Midlands race circuit, with the event featuring epic racing from the British Truck Racing Championship, as well as truck-themed displays and family activities all around the venue.

A massive line-up of 23 trucks across two divisions has been confirmed, which should guarantee plenty of drama from the ‘biggest’ championship in the UK.

Support race action will come from Pickup Trucks, the comparatively miniscule Legends, Sports and Saloons, Super Silhouettes, Mighty Minis and the Jaguar Series Elite.

Off track, there’s a huge assortment of activities fit for the whole family.

The main stage on the circuit infield will be a major focal point throughout the event, with live music, kids’ shows and cartoons, awards presentations, and even food eating contests!

Another major attraction on the infield will be the huge show truck display area, with over 1,000 trucks expected to be on view, including large manufacturerspecific areas and show specials. The best trucks will receive awards on the main stage through the weekend.

The popular Live Action Arena returns again too, including the much-demanded return of the caravan smashes, stunt shows from Team Maximum Lock, drift truck demonstrations, and the Red Dragon Monster Truck, with rides available on the car crusher.

For younger visitors, there’s even more to keep them occupied, thanks to a funfair, mini monster trucks, Scalextric racing, remote control trucks, kids’ character mascots, free bush craft skills workshops, an inflatable assault course and a climbing wall, with small individual charges applying for some activities.

Tickets for Convoy in the Park are available in advance until noon tomorrow ( Thursday, August 8) priced from £20 for adults. Discounted entry is available for teenagers aged 13-15, and children under 13 go free all weekend when accompanied by an adult.
