ReUse Project has paint galore!

THE homeless charity-run Exaireo ReUse Project, has thousands of litres of left-over paint for sale at its shop in Weldon Road, Loughborough.

The paint, which has been saved from unnecessary incineration, is available at low cost to anyone in the local community and in a huge range of colours, brands and tin sizes.

Since joining the Dulux-sponsored Community RePaint scheme, the Exaireo ReUse Project has collected over 15,000 litres of paint from designated drop off points and redistributed it to groups and individuals across Loughborough.

“It is an honour to be part of this recycling scheme” said Matthew Wood, Exaireo ReUse Project’s shop manager.

“Not only does it bring affordable paint to our community, it also helps the environment by preventing perfectly good paint from being destroyed. We have all the major brands of interior and exterior paint, in a full range of sizes from 250 millilitre tins to 10 litre tubs. Prices are between £1 a tin and £2 per litre.

“There is plenty of colour choice and we are even able to mix colours to customers’ specifications.”

The paint is sold alongside upcycled pieces of furniture that have been donated by the public and given a new lease of life at the Exaireo ReUse Project’s Weldon Road unit.

Matthew added: “It is widely recognised that a lot of newer furniture lacks the longevity and character that older pieces have.

“Our project renews pre-loved furniture, saving it from disposal and providing the customer with a unique piece of furniture at a bargain price!”

Managed by the Exaireo Trust, a local Christian charity, which offers temporary supported accommodation to homeless adults, the Exaireo ReUse Project provides work-based training to its service users to help them become financially independent.

Profit from the sale of all items is a major source of funding for the charity.

You can visit the Exaireo ReUse Project at Unit 4, Weldon Road, Loughborough LE11 5RN.

It is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.30am to 3pm and on Saturday from 11am to 3pm.
