An outstanding year for pupils at De Lisle College
STUDENTS at De Lisle College are celebrating an outstanding set of A level results this year.
Headteacher John Pye said: “Amongst the many students who have accepted places at their first choice universities, are three students who will be studying at Oxford or Cambridge in September.
“Chloe Felton achieved a remarkable set of four A* grades and has confirmed her place at Cambridge to read medicine. Joining her at Cambridge University is Anna Chesca, whose two A*s and an A grade have admitted her onto the prestigious natural sciences programme, where she intends to specialise in physics.
“Meanwhile, Amy Whitmore has achieved an impressive A* and two A grades which have confirmed her place at Oxford to read medicine.
“Other standout performances include Caitlin Bretnall (accepted to read physics at York University) who secured 2 A*s and an A, and Peter Thorpe, a gifted mathematician who is looking forward to his maths, statistics and economics degree at the University of Warwick after achieving 2A*s, an A and a B. Lucy Bishop-Carne (A* and two As), will take up a place at Leeds University to study liberal arts whilst Charlie Jagger will study medicine at Liverpool University, after gaining A grades in economics, chemistry and maths. Jamie Duncan (chemical engineering) and Paolo Brunetti (Italian and French) are both going to the University of Birmingham, after achieving three A grades.
“Overall, almost one student in 10 achieved a minimum of three A grades at A level, with 59% taking at least two facilitating subjects. This is reflected in an exceptional performance across a range of subjects, including fine art (71% A* - B), sociology (29% A* and A grades) and French (50% A* and A grades).
“We are incredibly proud of all our students and their sustained hard work over the past two years. We wish each of them the very best of luck as they embark on igher level apprenticeships or undergraduate studies next year.”
