A weekend of music in the scenic Bradgate Park
BRADGATE Park’s summer season of events came to a climax with a weekend of music.
Saturday was the annual Proms Spectacular with the Bardi Wind Orchestra, guest soloists Jennifer Saunders and David Morris.
This annual event saw over 800 guests enjoy the orchestra entertaining with traditional pomp and ceremony, film soundtracks and popular songs. The culmination and close of the event involved a light show that lit up the ruins of Bradgate House in dramatic style.
On Sunday the ruins were the venue for a second day of music with the day-long folk and acoustic picnic fund-raiser for the charity that cares for Bradgate Park. Seven local and national performers entertained the audience for nearly eight hours during the event.
The performers on the day were; The Ruby Doos, Dave Kirk, Daryl Kirkland, The Jigantics, Dave Wyatt, Harriette Endersby and Jim Moray Trio. Volunteers from the Bradgate Trust’s educational programme and Forest Paths provided craft activities for younger visitors, ensuring this family-friendly day had plenty for everyone.
The events were captured for a photographic archive by Trust volunteers who are members of Leicester Forest Photographic Society (lfps.org.uk).
The photographic society has been volunteering with the charity over the last three years and members have donated over 7,500 images about the work of the Trust and the wildlife, landscape and heritage of Bradgate Park and Swithland Wood.
