New season on horizon

-

THROUGHOUT the summer months, members of Sileby Photographic Society enjoyed a break from their normal Monday evening meetings of photography in its usual forms.

With climatic conditions mostly playing ball this summer, the more energetic amongst the clan donned their walking boots for a weekly trek through the Leicestershire countryside, quenching their thirst at a local hostelry afterwards.

On Monday, August 19, members and their guests enjoyed a delightful buffet at the Blacksmith’s Arms, Quorn, after testing their skills on the petanque court.

As usual, it seemed that luck rather than judgement played a major role in success or not which only served to encourage enthusiasm within the participants, resulting in a lovely evening enjoyed by everyone.

The first official meeting of the photographic society’s new season, 2019-20 will be held on Monday, September 2. This will feature a pre-recorded audio visual presentation produced by the Royal Photographic Society and consisting of some of the best images entered by members of their Nature group which had appeared in its recent Annual Exhibition.

With an enthusiastic membership and an excellent new programme featuring speakers with a broad cross-section of subject matter, 2019-20 looks to be another exciting and busy year ahead for Sileby Photographic Society.

Its flagship event in the form of the week-long Annual Photographic Exhibition will again be held at the Sileby Community Centre during half-term week in October commencing on Monday, October 14. This is always a popular and well attended function and showcases the photographic talent available within the society.

As in previous years, visitors and prospective new members are always welcome to attend the meetings which are held on most Monday evenings throughout the year at Sileby Community Centre. These commence at 7.45pm for 8pm and further information can be obtained from the society’s website, www.silebyps.org.uk
