Shirley Ellis Trophy was last mixed open of season
ROTHLEY Park Golf Club members have been in action again recently. Tuesday, September 3: Rowe Trophy Rowe Trophy is for Lady Past Captains only and was won by Susie Tyler with 37 points . Roisin Mason was second with 36 points. Thursday, September 5: Men’s Open (AM-AM stableford) Of 30 teams, all the winners were from Rothley Park except fourth place.
Winners – Dave Wardle, Mick Deevey, James Simpson, Brett Collins – 85 points.
Runners Up - Rob Toone, Matt Hilton, Colin Taylor & Rob Rees – 84 points (back 9).
Third - Chris Olivier, Mick Knight, Paul Sturgess & Stan Piecha – 84 points.
Fourth - Carl Harris, L Wyche, G Dobbs, D Squires, Greetham Valley – 83 points.

Sunday, September 8: Shirley Ellis Mixed Open
Fantastic playing conditions defied the forecasters and the early morning frost on the fairways for the last Mixed Open of the season, the Shirley Ellis Trophy. 52 teams took part from all over the country and most took advantage of the weather with over 20 scores of 39 points or more being recorded.
It was therefore going to take a big score to secure a win and the host Club pairing of Ginny Mulligan and Andy Cripps duly delivered with a magnificent score of 50 points. After receiving their Trophies from Lady Captain, Caroline Simpson, Ginny said: “It means so much to us to win today, as it has been a ‘nearly’ season up to now so to win today is really special.”
Vice Captains Jenny Piecha and Alan Dorn, paid tribute to all involved with the organisation and administration before and during the event, in particular, the many volunteers and helpers from the club who gave up so much of their time to assist with the registration desk, starting, scoring and the charity raffle.
First Prize - Ginny Mulligan and Andy Cripps, Rothley Park Golf Club with 50 points.
Second Prize - Brian Linnington and Helen Linnington, Erewash Valley Golf Club with 45 points.
Third Prize - Andrew Hebblethwaite and Jane Hebblethwaite, Rothley Park Golf Club, 43 points. Fourth Prize - Duncan Speck and Izabella Speck, Whittington Heath Golf Club, 42 points.
Fifth Prize - Jenny Piecha and James Quemby, Rothley Park Golf Club with 42 points.
