DIVISION SHEPSHED DYNAMO 3 HARBOROUGH TOWN 0

SHEPSHED Dynamo retained their 100 per cent record and are still yet to concede a goal in The Uhlsport United Counties Premier Division.

Their 3-0 home victory against Harborough Town leap-frogged Dynamo above their visitors and lead the league on goal difference from local rivals Loughborough University.

Harborough had lost their own unbeaten tag in midweek against Wellingborough Town so Shepshed knew victory would almost certainly put them top of the table. A first half goal from new signing Harry Wakefield and two further second half goals from John King and Reece Morris assured them of their position. Town certainly more than matched Shepshed in the first half but the hosts upped the tempo in the second half to record their fourth straight victory.

Shepshed started the game with purpose with the visitors’ defence being alert to a Josh Egginton’s cross.

But it wasn’t long before Dynamo were in front, tenacious work in midfield from Reece Morris stealing the ball off Joshua Walsh and sliding the ball through to Wakefield to round the advancing Michael Brookes in the Harborough goal to open his own personal account on his debut and Shepshed’s for the day on seven minutes.

Harborough tried to respond but Matty White wasn’t giving up his unbeaten record easily with a fine save from Daniel Forbes.

Brookes was then called into action again saving from Liam Hurst on fourteen minutes and the visitors looked to strike back instantly with White saving from Joel Konteh a minute later.

Harborough were having their best spell of the game and White was forced to save from Finlay Gray on twenty three minutes and the visitors failing to convert the rebound.

Jordan Wakeling then advanced from the back for Shepshed and Harborough were forced into a double block on twenty seven minutes before White saved from the visitors’ Aaron Preston a minute later with Taras Petranyuk firing the rebound with the goal at his mercy wide.

It was the visitors who were to have the final chance of any note with Aaron Preston firing off target on thirty six minutes.

Shepshed upped the tempo in the second half and were two goals to the good on fifty eight minutes Hurst putting John King through, beating Brookes in the Town goal.

Dynamo’s confidence was now sky high as they went in search of further goals to ensure Harborough were not allowed a foothold into the game.

Karl Whymark going close on sixty minutes and King should have doubled his tally when it looked easier for him to score as his effort after a neat one-two with Wakefield found him round Brookes with an empty Town goal to aim for his effort went wide of the empty goal, after Egginton and Morris had broken down Harborough’s attempt to get out of their own half.

Luke Moran off the bench forced a save from Brookes on sixty three minutes.

Morris was a threat with his pace and skill all game and after a tantalising run he was unlucky not to put Shepshed three up on seventy eight minutes his effort just missing the far post.

Ben Williams then cleared off the Harborough line on eighty six minutes from Wakefield and Shepshed’s other attacking substitute Josh Mundell fired wide on eighty eight minutes.

For all his hard-work Morris got his reward in injury time once again terrorising the Harborough defence beating one defender before catching Brookes off guard in the Town goal to make it three.

A competitive first half in front of a healthy crowd of 209 saw Shepshed work through the gears in the second half and found Harborough wanting in the end. A deserved three points for Shepshed Dynamo which sees them retain their 100 per cent record, yet to concede in the league and sit top of the Uhlsport United Counties Premier Division.

Dynamo now face back to back home game both against Leicestershire opposition with Leicester Nirvana the visitors on Saturday, September 14, and then the following Tuesday Lutterworth Town visit the Dovecote Stadium.
