AGM and the Air Ambulance

-

WHITWICK and District U3A will hold its monthly General Meeting on Friday, September 20.

If you are at the age when you remember that September meant signing up for evening classes at our local community centres and colleges, then the U3A could be for you.

We may not yet have the full range of activities that kept us so busy during the cooler months then but there are learning and social groups to suit most tastes, all run on a self-help basis. If you are retired and looking for absorbing activities, the General Meeting offers an opportunity to discover more.

Our guest speaker for this month will be Peter Gee-Pemberton with the topic “The Air Ambulance Service”.

The Air Ambulance Service is a non-government funded charity that flies two local air ambulances across Leicestershire and four neighbouring counties.

The two helicopters provide a rapid response to trauma and medical emergencies over a vast area which includes many of the UK’s major road networks.

With an average response of just 13 minutes, between them, the aircraft attend an average six missions a day. Learning more about this astounding charity should be both interesting and engaging.

To listen to Peter as well as find out more about Whitwick and District U3A, come along to St David’s Church Hall, Broom Leys, Coalville LE67 4RL.

Please arrive at 1.45pm for a 2pm start. The U3A movement is non-political and non-religious: everyone is welcome.
