Digital images using YouTube
CHRIS Paul was Sileby Photographic Society’s guest speaker at its meeting held on Monday, September 16, when he enlightened his audience on the benefits of using ‘You Tube’, particularly with the object of presenting digital images to the wider world.
Having taken early retirement a few years ago, he obviously felt the need to involve himself with an absorbing hobby and photography, which now seems to take up most of his time, filled the gap in his life admirably.
Chris showed many examples of his accomplishments within the world of digital photography and the images projected, in both monochrome and colour, reflected his expertise in his chosen field, all of which appeared on his ‘You Tube’ page.
Digital images projected included sea and landscapes, rural and urban, captured on camera at home and abroad, together with a selection of very appealing dog portraits, aircraft in flight and examples of wedding photography.
Each was shown in mini-video form together with well selected choice of music which captured the atmosphere and the moment well.
Chris explained in detail the benefits of displaying his work on ‘You Tube’ whereby he had been able to communicate with individuals based world-wide through the medium of photography.
Friends and family based abroad were also able, in his words, ‘to see what he was up to’ and the results achieved proved that his time was well spent.
He explained that by employing the medium of ‘You Tube’ this had opened up many commercial opportunities for him too, and his following, of which there were many, had been inspired by his work.
A question and answer session followed the refreshment break. Whilst many Sileby members were familiar with ‘You Tube’, some were not, and Chris was able to explain the benefits and techniques involved to make best use of the system.
Paul described himself as a ‘digital artist’, an apt description, and a very enthusiastic photographer. He certainly knew his stuff in his chosen field, and had been well rewarded with results achieved.
John Hoogerwerf thanked Chris for a thoroughly enjoyable evening which had included a good selection of images and a great discussion on the use of ‘You Tube’.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, September 30, when Derek Buckett will pay a return visit to Sileby to present digital images entitled ‘ These are a few ...’.
Visitors and prospective new members are always welcome to attend the Society’s meetings which commence at 7.45pm for 8pm and are held at Sileby Community Centre.
