Police chief sets out aims for the future
A NEW police chief covering the Charnwood North area has set out his aims for the future.
Sergeant Michael Young has recently taken over as the neighbourhood Policing Sergeant for Charnwood North. He has have been a police officer for 16 years and an operational police sergeant for three years.
He said: I am new to neighbourhood policing having spent the majority of my career as a response officer. I am used to tackling emerging issues, taking positive action and supporting victims of crime and anti-social behaviour.
“I live in Charnwood and I am committed to working to serving my local community.
“I have been impressed with the dedication and commitment of the beat team at resolving community issues.
“My aim is to now increase public engagement so that we can understand local concerns and react promptly and effectively to emerging threats.
“I would like to gauge your opinions and concerns so that the beat priorities to be driven by its residents. This will be achieved by increasing the number of beat surgeries, patch walks and public meetings which will be advertised in future newsletters found via Neighbourhood Link and left in prominent locations around the villages.
“I hope to see an increase in attendance and for you to see positive results and for your voice to be heard. Neighbourhood Link is an exciting new scheme. This facilitates information sharing and keeps the public updated on police activity.”
