Behind the scenes stories from cameraman Doug Allen
WHICH are the scariest – snow leopards or leopard seals? How do you get close to the biggest fish in the sea and will your eyeballs freeze at minus 50?!
The answers to all these questions and more will be revealed when Doug Allan, the multi award-winning wildlife cameraman with five Bafta and eight Emmy Awards to his credit, embarks on a 21-date UK theatre tour, calling at Loughborough Town Hall on Wednesday, October 30.
Doug Allan – Wild Images, Wild Life will share behind the scenes stories for all the family, with highlights from the most challenging assignments of his 35 years filming wildlife in the remotest places on Earth. Doug will also be tracing his personal journey as he discusses how he’s seen pollution and climate change affect the natural world.
Doug Allan spent seven years in Antarctica as a scientist, research diver and photographer for the British Antarctic Survey before changing direction to full-time freelance filming in 1983. Since then he has become one of the world’s best known and most respected cameramen, specialising in natural history, expeditions and science documentaries.
In addition to this work with Sir David Attenborough and Brian Cox, Doug has worked for the BBC, Discovery and National Geographic channels filming programmes such as Human Planet, Ocean Giants, Operation Iceberg, and Wild Cameramen at Work.
Doug Allan - Wild Images, Wild Life will run for two hours including a 20-minute interval and audience Q&A.
Copies of Doug’s book Freeze Frame will be on sale along with colour prints of polar bears, penguins and seals.
