Do you want to have a say on the council’s housing services?

A PLACE on a housing advisory board is up for grabs for someone who wants to have their say on how council housing services are run by the council.

Charnwood Borough Council’s Housing Management Advisory Board (HMAB) discusses important issues that affect its council tenants and leaseholders including performance of the council’s landlord service, budgets, policies and investment in properties.

The board is made up of eight members: four council tenants/leaseholders, three borough councillors and an independent.

The existing independent board member is coming to the end of their threeyear term on the board and so the recruitment process has begun to find someone who is keen to get involved and make a difference to the way services are delivered.

Coun Paul Mercer, the council’s lead member for housing, said: “The board is an important part of ensuring that our service is tailored to the needs of our tenants and leaseholders.

“It’s important to us to engage with our customers so that we can continue to find out what we’re doing well and where we can do better.

“This is a superb opportunity to have an impact on the way we deliver our services.”

Any recommendations made by the board will be sent to the council’s cabinet and taken into account when decisions about the service are made.

The deadline for applications is Friday November 15. Interviews and decision process will take place towards the end of November, with a decision and appointment made in the run-up to Christmas, ready for the new year.
