Award finalists revealed
THE finalists for this year’s Charnwood Sports Awards have been announced.
The awards ceremony, organised by Charnwood Borough Council, received 76 individual nominations and judges have now selected finalists in all 10 categories.
The finalists are: Junior Sportsperson of the Year: Sophie Watson, Thomas Giles, Will Bell; Junior Team of the Year: Barrow Town Eagles U9 Football Team, Charnwood College Riders, Loughborough Foxes U12 Football Team; Outstanding Contribution to Sport & Physical Activity & School Sport: Aimee Merison, Dishley Park Run, Gorse Covert Health Walk;
Senior Sportsperson of the Year: Joe Heyes, Karim Chan, Katie Boulter;
Senior Team of the Year: Charnwood Tennis Women’s 1st Team, Poplar Football Club, Loughborough Lawn Tennis Club Ladies 1st team; Volunteer of the Year: Ann Bullock, Dan Turner, Holly Shepherd, Sam James; Club of the Year: Loughborough Badminton Club, Rothley Park Cricket Club, Shepshed Running Club; Coach of the Year: Krumesh Patel, Laura Buddle, Paul Nicholls; Best Community Sport and Physical Activity Project 2019: MJFC Ladies- Gemma Jones, LEAP & LEAP Maintainers, Pauline McCoy; Joe Humphries Special Recognition Award 2019: Jesse Dufton, Joe Ballantyne, Sue Reynolds.
Coun Deborah Taylor, lead member for communities said: “It was tough trying to narrow down this year’s finalists as we have so many talented and dedicated individuals, coaches, clubs and volunteers in Charnwood.”
This year’s awards ceremony will take place on Monday, December 2 at Burleigh Court, Loughborough.
