Loughborough Male Voice Choir raises £3,000 for good causes...
FOLLOWING a hugely successful Patrons’ Concert in October, Loughborough Male Voice Choir has told the Echo that its singing engagements in the last two months raised well over £3,000 for good causes.
The Patrons’ concert alone earned £515 for Pulmonary Fibrosis Leicestershire, along with a commemorative trophy from fellow choristers of Worcester Male Voice Choir.
“A fantastic achievement,” said LMVC’s chair Norman Hockley. “LMVC’s fund-raising continues on November 28 with the ever-popular Christmas Tree Festival in Loughborough’s Parish Church and, with a packed programme of pre-Xmas events in December, followed by a host of engagements in 2020, the choir are in the next 12 months set to smash its 2019 fund-raising total by quite a margin.”
Proceeds from concerts contribute much-needed cash to invest in LMVC’s future sustainability.
Innovative projects like LMVC’s Singing in Harmony course that kicks off in less than eight weeks’ time, from January 16, help to bring in new blood to the choir and ensure its future continuity.
Singing in Harmony lasts six weeks and will be held at Trinity Methodist Church, Loughborough. It will be entirely free of cost to those who wish to take part, including males of any age and even those with no formal voice training or past singing experience -since voice coaching is an integral part of the course.
There are only two conditions – applicants must like singing and be prepared to work at it – and there is absolutely no obligation to join LMVC afterwards.
