PARISH COUNCIL REPORT. Walton on the Wolds Parish Council met on Wednesday, November 13, in the Village Hall.

Jenny Bokor and Richard Shepherd, borough and county councillor­s, attended and reported on the situation regarding lorry routes during the Paudy Lane closure and other local political issues

The council discussed a range of items including the replacemen­t of the Christmas Lights. It was resolved to trial Solar Powered lighting this year

The council now has a Facebook page for advertisin­g events and publicisin­g items of interest to parishione­rs. If you are a Facebook user you can follow us.

Other issues were: Councillor Training, The Halloween Event (highly successful), Street Lighting, Parish Notice Board, Planning Applicatio­ns, Drains and the Precept Submission (unchanged for the forthcomin­g year)

The next meeting of the Council is scheduled for Tuesday January 14, at 6pm in the Village Hall and parishione­rs are welcome to attend’

CHRISTMAS COFFEE MORNING. There will be a Christmas Coffee Morning, in aid of St Mary’s Church on November 30, from 10.30am – 12noon in The Village Hall

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH-ON. The Christmas Lights Switch On is being held at the Village Green this Sunday, December 1, at 4.30 for 5pm

Come and enjoy mulled wine, hot chocolate, mince pies and Christmas songs and see the new lights switched on

CAROL SERVICE. There will be a Carol Service at 4pm on December 15, at St Mary’s Church followed by mulled wine and mince pies

Other Church Services: December 15, at 8.30am – Holy Communion. December 24, at 4pm – Crib Service. December 25, at 9am – Christmas Day Service.
