LADIES WALKING GROUP. On Monday 9th December, Normanton-on-Soar Ladies Walking Group will be meeting for a short walk in Loughborough followed by Christmas lunch at Goodliffes in Church Gate.
Meet at Goodliffes at 10.45am with lunch at 12.30pm. Please note that this event is pre-booked.

LUNCH CLUB. Ladies and gentlemen, remember that a lunch club is held at the village hall in Sutton Bonington the second Thursday of each month. Upcoming dates include 12th December.
December lunch club will be our Christmas lunch - with all the trimmings. All seniors from Sutton Bonington, Normanton on Soar and surrounding villages are welcome or if you have retired early and want to join us please do.
Cost is £3 for our two course meal and this includes tea or coffee from 11.30am with lunch being served at midday. For more details, ring Sue James (673460)
CHRISTMAS MEAL (NOSMA). On 13th December Normanton on Soar Men’s Association will be having a three course Christmas meal, with coffee, at the Rushcliffe Golf Club.
This will be a private event for the Association, and not part of other festivities at the Club. We hope members, with their friends and partners will join us. For more details please contact Chas Miller, tel:- 01509 844287.
CHRISTMAS CANDLELIT CONCERT. The popular Christmas Candlelit Concert will be taking place at St James Church, Normanton on Soar at 7.30pm on Saturday 14th December.
Please note that the concert is a little later in the month this year but is our usual second Saturday in December. Artistes will include The Bridge Singers, Viola Calthrop-Owen (flute), Neil & Jane Millensted (piano), Normanton on Soar Village Choir, Amelia Calladine (flute), Eric Brook (baritone), Anna Caves & Simon Barrington (readings).
Tickets cost £7 with accompanied school-aged children free and will be available nearer the time at Normanton on Soar Community Shop and Sutton Bonington Post Office.
ST JAMES’ CHURCH CHRISTMAS SERVICES. On Sunday 15th December at 4pm, St James Church will be holding the Village and Boat Club Candlelit Christmas Celebration.
Various village organisations take part in this service and there will be a special item by Normanton on Soar Village Choir. The service will be led by Sue Waterston. All are welcome to join us.
QUIET SPACES AT ST JAMES’ - The regular monthly ‘Julian Meetings’ at St. James’ Church, Normanton on Soar, encourage one another in the practice of contemplative prayer. Julian of Norwich’s writings encourage us to be still, silent and receptive in God’s presence, trusting Him to make Himself known to us.
After a brief introduction, our times together are based on the simple idea of spending at least half an hour together in silence, waiting on God, and are open to anyone who would like to come.

COMMUNITY SHOP - The Normanton on Soar store is a small, well-stocked shop run by a group of volunteers, many of whom are not village residents but who offer their invaluable help.
As well as selling a wide range of products, the community store, located behind the village hall, serves refreshments and is a regular stop for cycling and walking parties as well as many visitors to Normanton.
Alongside this, the shop acts as a general meeting place for small groups with shared interests including a weekly Scrabble match held on Monday afternoons.
Volunteers are always needed, particularly around holiday times. If you could spare an hour here and there please call (01509) 646464 or pop along to the shop and have a chat and a cuppa! (Opening hours: Monday to Friday 10am - 1pm and 2pm - 5pm. Saturday 10am - 1pm.)
