EVEN the most hardest of hearts cannot fail to melt at the sight of a Disney classic.

And what better way to enjoy Disney than to see a whole host of famous characters in action - and performing on ice?

Disney On Ice came to the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham last week to celebrate 100 Years of Magic.

Mouse-ter of Ceremonies Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and pals took to the ice to honour the legacy of Walt Disney and welcome audiences on a magical journey through classic and modern Disney tales.

Families and particularly youngsters all got into the spirit of things, many dressing up as their favourite characters - with lots of Elsas from Frozen in particular, and flashing toys galore.

This fanfare production features more than 50 unforgettable Disney stars, a sing-along score of melodious masterpieces, stunning choreography, beautiful costumes and intricate sets. Visiting many of Disney’s popular tales, the skaters in full costume played out scenes from the stories to give you a flavour of the heart-warming stories.

Belle broke the Beast’s curse in the tale of Beauty & The Beast, a beautiful scene - and full credit to the occupier of the massive Beast costume!

Pixar’s Toy Story 4 made a short appearance, complete with audience favourite Forky.

Audiences travelled to the heart of Africa with Disney’s The Lion King with some spectacular duet skating, and there was a lengthy section featuring Mulan complete with an army of skaters.

Finding Dora was one of the more spectacular parts of the show, with some magical costumes and the lead fishes looking like they were gliding through water.

It was a delight to watch. But, perhaps not unsurprisingly, it was the magical kingdom of Arendelle from Disney’s Frozen which proved the biggest attraction for this family audience.

They journeyed up the North Mountain with hilarious snowman Olaf and rugged mountain-man Kristoff, as they helped royal sisters Anna and Elsa discover that true love conquers all.

This came complete with pyrotechnics which helped bring some drama to the story on the skating rink.

Around 30 Disney tunes that people know and love feature in the show, which includes characters from 14 treasured stories.

This was a great treat for all the family, and in particular it brought great delight to the the younger visitors, who saw their favourite Disney tales brought to life right in front of their eyes.
