Persimmon Homes provide £1,000 cash boost to Steps

-

SHEPSHED-BASED Steps education centre is set to expand its services after receiving a cash boost from a housebuilder.

Persimmon Homes North Midlands has awarded Steps Conductive Education Centre with a £1,000 cash boost, as part of its Community Champions scheme.

The Community Champions initiative allows charities and good causes to apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.

Steps Conductive Education Centre offers support to children with cerebral palsy and other motor disorders to maximise their full potential.

Trish Mabbott, project development manager for the group, said: “We are extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes North Midlands for its support.

“The centre aims to develop the skills children need to progress and maximise their potential. We also work with families to provide them with the knowledge, confidence and strength they need to understand how they can help their child.

“We are raising funds to create an additional support group for children and their families. At the moment, there is a waiting list of children who wish to have a place and we want to be able to provide a fun and social space where they can integrate into a group situation.”

Nadine O’Dowd, sales director for Persimmon Homes North Midlands, said: “We are proud to support Steps Conductive Education Centre. Its volunteers provide a community focused service that makes a real difference to families living in the area.

“Community Champions is all about supporting good causes that make an impact in their community and the centre is a perfect example of that.

“If people were unsuccessful in their Community Champions application, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again, hopefully they will be our next recipient.”

Organisations can apply for funding by completing a simple online form at www.persimmonhomes. com/charity
