Christmas party for WI

-

AT THE December meeting of Loughborough Ladies WI, ladies enjoyed their Christmas party.

As well as enjoying delicious puddings, prepared by the Committee, there was great fun preparing shoebox presents for ladies currently living in one of the Leicestershire Women’s refuges.

The boxes were decorated and filled with treats donated by the ladies and would be shared around the refuges in Leicestershire.

After enjoying party games and sharing the worst Christmas cracker jokes ladies left the meeting with a goodie bag for each member to take home.

The next meeting will be held on January 2, when Colin Bower will entertain us with humorous tales of his career as a passenger liaison officer. This is the first of a varied and interesting programme of events for the new year.

The Coffee Club contiues to meet and suppport local coffee shops. It will meet again on Monday, 30th December 2019 at 10.30am at the Centro Cafe Loughborough.

The Book Club members enjoyed the first book in the

Clifton Chronicles series by Jeffrey Archer and have decided to read the second book, The Sins of the Father. A second book, The Holiday, by T M. Logan was also chosen. Ladies will meet to discuss these books at The Beacon Inn on Thursday, January 9 at 7.30pm.

There will be no Craft Club in January.

The Supper Club enjoyed a Christmas dinner at the Radmoor Centre and will be returning in January for a Burn’s Night celebration. The students do a superb job of preparing and serving delicious food.
