OAKS SENIORS. Chera Voce entertaine­d the Oaks Seniors at their first meeting of the year. Eight members from the choir sang an assortment of songs accompanie­d by Keith Bailey playing the electric organ with Choir Mistress Marilyn Ashwell ensuring everyone sang the right note.

The Oaks Seniors Committee are arranging the programme for 2020 which will be announced shortly. If you would like to join the Oaks Seniors please contact Sheila Bass on 01509 502813.

FAMILY SERVICE. All are welcome to St.James’ the Greater Church, Oaks Road, LE12 9YD on Sunday, January 19 at 11 am with Rev Lydia Humphreys. Val Baxter will be accompanyi­ng us on her accordion with our chosen hymns.

Steve, Sandra and Sara will be organizing our usual children’s activities with a Christian theme in the adjacent Oaks Storer Hall.

OAKS & DISTRICT TENNIS CLUB. The Annual General Meeting of the Oaks and District Tennis Club will take place on Tuesday, January 21 at 7.30 pm in the Club House, Oaks Road, LE12 9YD.

OAKS COUNTRY FAIR. There is at a meeting on Wednesday, January 22, at 7.30 pm in the Oaks Storer Hall, Oaks Road, LE12 9YD to discuss plans for the next Oaks Country Fair on Monday, May 25.

OAKS MOTHERS’ UNION.

The next meeting of the Oaks Mothers’ Union is the Annual General Meeting on Monday, February 17, at 2.30pm in the Oaks Storer Hall.

This is an important date in our programme calendar and members should try to attend. Tea, coffee and cake will be served after the meeting. (Please note there was no meeting in January).

FISH, CHIPS AND BINGO NIGHT. We are holding our usual Bingo and Fish and Chip supper on Saturday, February 22 at 7 pm (don’t be late) in the Oaks Storer Hall, Oaks Road, LE12 9YD.

Tickets are £7 each which includes mini fish, chips, peas with bread and butter plus tea or coffee.

There will also be the famous Whiskey Flyer to purchase and a raffle. Please bring your own alcoholic drink and a glass.
