TWIN PEAKS

-

TWIN Atlantic fans are in for a double treat in the East Midlands. The band will play an intimate album launch show in Nottingham later this month as well as heading back to the region to Leicester in March as part of the band’s UK tour.

To coincide with the release of the band’s fourth album, Power, out on Friday, January 24, their first appearance in the region will be at Metronome in Nottingham on Monday, January 27, for an “entry with album purchase” show.

Diving into the themes of the record, frontman Sam McTrusty said; “The album is inspired by colours, moods, memories. We just got into a room and started creating. The studio as its own instrument reached a new level – we created nothing outside those walls and it became a physical embodiment of the album itself.”

Going on to speak about their new single, Barcelona, he adds: “This is a love song about being in a film loop – a kaleidoscope of ideas and memories and the first song I’ve tried to write in a vignette style like this.

“It’s inspired by the unusual arpeggio mono synth part we fell in love with at the opening of the track. It sounds like a mistake and reminded me of when you would see old movie projector reels glitch and fail. It’s romantic and cinematic. It makes fun of love but also puts it up high on a pedestal.”

Also falling into the love song category is the single, Novocaine. McTrusty adds: “I wanted to force myself to be more honest and open. The song tells the story of the most intimate connection I’ve ever felt with someone else – when I first met my wife. That feeling of obsession taking over every thought and reason was almost like an addiction at the time. It embarasses us in some ways that we fell victim to such a cliched movie script love story, but equally amazes us that it ever happened.”

Following a main stage performance at Reading and Leeds Festival, as well as supporting The 1975 in Glasgow, Twin Atlantic make their full live return with the March tour, including a gig at O2 Academy Leicester on Sunday, March 15.
