Swim club off to great start in 2020
LOUGHBOROUGH Town Swimming Club got 2020 off to a fantastic start by finishing in second place in the first round of the Leicestershire League Division 1 on Saturday.
In a closely fought gala, Daventry took first place with 247 points, Loughborough Town were 2nd with 202 points; Leicester Neptune 3rd: 199 points; Leicester Penguins: 4th 147 points; Hinckley B 5th: 146 and Braunstone C 6h: 106 points.
Individual winners were: Navin Sae-Sue (15 & under - 100m breaststroke), Lucy Sharp (Open 100m freestyle), Alexa Hargrave (11 & U – 50m breaststroke), Mia Larke (Open – 100m breaststroke), James Lake (13 & U 50m butterfly), Sean McCann (15 & U – 100m backstroke), Finn Reed (13 & Under 50m breaststroke) and Abbie Ruddle (Open – 100m butterfly).
The boys in the 13 & under age group, Alfie Molloy, Josh Dowdall, James Lake and Finn Reed won both their freestyle and medley relay teams. As did the Open women’s team consisting of Mia Larke, Lucy Sharp, Abbie Ruddle and Millie Randle. The Men’s Open team: George Larke, Sandy Jarvis, Will Stone and Josh Ley-Sneyd were also victorious in the 4 x 50m Medley Team.
Second place finishes were secured by Mia Larke (100 IM), Sandy Jarvis (100m freestyle and butterfly), Willem Muddimer (100m butterfly), Alfie Molloy (50m freestyle) and Millie Randle (100m backstroke). The boys 15 and under relay team of Willem, Navin, Sean and Harrison Cook finished in second place in both of their events.
Other members of the successful team were Lois Buxton, Rida Haq, Isabella Cooper, Darell Yeoh, Oscar Brown, Freddie Houghton, Rafferty Fantham, Elizabeth Palfrey, Niamh Muddimer, Laura Beresford, Ruby Rhodes, Francesca Palfrey, Erin Harvey and Ella Fairey.
Next weekend sees the start of the Leicestershire and Rutland County Championships at Braunstone Leisure Centre. Loughborough Town SC has 53 swimmers taking part in the Championships which take place over three weekends during January and February.
