FAWNL NORTHERN DIVISION LOUGHBOROUGH FOXES 3

HULL CITY LADIES 2 LOUGHBOROUGH Foxes recorded a very important win over bottom of the table Hull City on Sunday as they ran out 3-2 winners.

Goals from Becky Knight (2) and Tiana Hicks secured the win and moved Foxes up to 8th in the table above West Brom and Middlesbrough, more importantly it made the gap between the bottom two teams and Foxes now nine points

Foxes took the lead after only five minutes as Tiana Hicks fired a 40 yard shot that deceived the Hull keeper and found it way onto the net.

Despite this great start Foxes’ performance remained scrappy as they gave the ball away cheaply in midfield and invited pressure from the visitors.

Foxes though did add to their lead through Becky Knight who was on hand to tap home after another goalkeeping error. Hull’s Helen Lynskey was causing the Foxes midfield problems and she fired them back into the game only a minute after Knight had made it 2-0.

The poor quality continued as Becky Knight made it 3-1 just before half time as she disposed the Hull defender and then calmly side footed home.

The second half started with Foxes controlling play and restricting Hull to long distance efforts against debutant Alex Stephens, in the Foxes goal. After 60 minutes Foxes brought on Grace Stanley to add some pace to their attack and she immediately ran clear of the Hull back four but shot wide when 1 against 1 with the Hull keeper.

Becky Knight then shot straight at the keeper when going for her hat trick.

However it was Hull who scored next as McGrother brought down the Hull attacker for a penalty. Stephen’s dived the correct way but couldn’t save the resultant spot kick.

Foxes kept Hull at bay for the remaining 10 minutes of the game and were delighted to take all three points.
