NEW BLUES CLUB IN VILLAGE. Internationallyknown Blues artists along with national and local bands will feature at a newlyestablished club in Diseworth.

From January 2020 Diseworth Village Hall will see the launch and become the home of a new Blues club called ‘Diseworth Blues’. The club aims to aims to bring ‘live’ music to the village on a monthly basis from nationally and internationally-known Blues acts at a reasonable price.

The new club already has three confirmed bookings and it will be announcing two further bookings shortly which will mean that it will have a full programme up to the beginning of June 2020.

Blues music is a wideranging genre which ranges from traditional to Blues-rock and the club intends to book artists which reflect this wide spectrum as well as artists that are not strictly Blues performers but still draw their influences from the culture.

The organisers are Helen and Martyn Berridge a brother and sister team who have been looking to establish a Blues Club in North West Leicestershire for some time but until now have not been able to find a suitable venue.

Martyn who lives in Shepshed and who moved back to the area recently after growing-up locally, told the Echo:’ We have got some top quality acts booked at the new club. We have been looking for a venue for a whole and Diseworth Village Hall ticks all the boxes. Our aim is to encourage live Blues music at a reasonable price.’

A number of the acts booked over the next six months are on national tours and have managed to fit in a date in Diseworth.

In Diseworth Village Hall they believe they have found ‘the perfect venue’, as the hall as a music licence, a stage, its own PA system, a capacity of 100 fans and ample parking.

The club will have a licence bar for each event and the audience will be seated with a designated dance area. For most events the organisers intend to set the club up with an intimate cabaret-style setting.

Th club opens its doors on Friday, January 24 at 7pm and its first act is the Foregate Street Blues Band. The band will be performing two sets playing a mixture of Blues standards combined with their own compositions played in their own unique style.

Tickets are £10 and may be obtained by emailing Mucky Duck Promotions at info@ muckyduckpromotions.co.uk or by calling Martyn directly on 07731 435758

Acts already booked over the next six months include The Milk Men, Dean Own and the Southerners, Ian Parker and his Band and One-Eyed Crow.

Listings of all the acts booked for the club will appear on the organisers’ website.
