New Tuneless Choir launch
A NEW choir is launching for singers in the north Leicestershire area.
North Leicester Tuneless Choir will launch on Wednesday, February 5.
Stella Watson, who is organising it, said: “Like all Tuneless Choirs, singers from different backgrounds and all ages will be coming together to enjoy the release of endorphins as they sing popular songs in their own unique ways.
“No pressure, no judgment, just confidence-boosting fun and a great atmosphere.”
After having a successful year at Loughborough Tuneless Choir, Stella found it so inspiring she decided to set up another Tuneless Choir in North Leicester in order to benefit the local community in the Leicestershire area.
The venue will be Wanlip Church and Community Hall, Church Road, Wanlip, LE7 4PJ. The Hall is located next to Wanlip Parish Church and is reached by following Church Road, Wanlip to the very end (by bearing left and left again as the road turns, until the church comes into view).
The choir will sing familiar songs with a strong melody.
Stella said: “We will cover a dozen or so songs at each session. There’ll be no separate parts such as soprano or bass, everyone will just sing however they feel comfortable.
“There’ll be no judgement and no tuition. It’s a return to the times people sang together for fun, to be sociable and to feel good. In the past, it came naturally to sing when going through tough times and the good times were even more enjoyable when shared in song.”
The choir will run on the first and third Wednesday of the month from 7.30pm to 8.45pm with a short break for refreshments.
On launch night, doors will open at 7.15pm and there will be fizz, cake and hot drinks. People are encouraged to buy a ticket in advance so they can make sure there are enough refreshments.
Stella added: “It’s £10 for your first time at choir. Then it’s £8 if you ‘pay as you go’, or you’ll be able to sign up for a term in advance for the equivalent of £6 per session.
“You are welcome to join the choir at any time, and there’s no need to attend every time.
“It’s a good idea to sign up for our emails, so you can find out about choir dates after our launch.

Loughborough Tuneless Choir is held at Knightthorpe Methodist Church, 106 Knightthorpe Road, Loughborough LE11 5JU. It runs fortnightly on Thursdays from 7pm to 8.30pm with a break for refreshments. Doors open at 6.45pm.
