Quorn get back to winning ways

-

UCL PREMIER DIVISION RUGBY TOWN FC 1 QUORN 3

QUORN bounced back to form with an impressive away win against league leaders Rugby Town.

They welcomed back the return of midfielder Richard Whyman from Ilkeston FC and Charlie Scanlon was given his first start since joining from Loughborough Dynamo.

The opening 10 minutes was very much both sides setting out their stalls and Rugby was getting

the better share of opportunities to get the opening goal and press their authority on the

game. In the 13th minute Rugby took the lead when Danico Johnson hit a placed shot at goal from outside the Quorn penalty area and found the bottom right hand corner of the net.

It was a disappointing half for Quorn who struggled to get shots on target but after a team talk from boss Willis Francis and his assistant manager Aaron Stringfellow, Quorn came out of the gates at the start of the second half like a bullet.

Looking energised and focused they very quickly found more luck in the wings and levelled within threec minutes when Leo Marshall found himself one on one with the Rugby Town keeper and he hit a cracker of a shot into the top of the net.

Quorn continued to push for more goals, Rackeem Reid and Micah Jebbison were looking more dangerous and direct on the wings and on 68 minutes a great cross found talisman striker Steven Hart for him to head powerfully into the net.

On 74 minutes another fantastic pressing move gave Micah Jebbison a shot on goal which the Rugby Town keeper could only parry it into the path of Steven Hart who volleyed home to extend Quorn’s lead and ultimately secure all three points.

This Saturday, Quorn will play host to Peterborough Northern Star.
